    Re: age

If the sweepstakes is open to your age group you have as much chance of winning as anyone else who entered. Sweepstakes must follow state laws of fairness to all.

    Re: age

I asked the same question a few weeks ago.  I don't know but it makes me feel as though they want to eliminate us older codgers.  It seems so much nicer when they simply ask.... are you over 21?   That sure would eliminate the question now wouldn't it?  I don't see why they have to have the birthday until time for the affie, and besides, it's a pain in the you-know-what to have to scroll soooooooooo far down.Smile or have to fill out numbers (I always think it's harder to do numbers).  So stop it you sweeps designers!

    Re: age

A lot of times it is a demographic thing. They want to know what type of person is visiting their website.

    Re: age

They do not need to know your birthday.  They only need to know you are over a certain age.  The birthday year???? It's fixed.  Nothing is legit nowadays.  Just look at our government.  Like have you ever seen a 63 year old woman win a motorcycle?

    Re: age

mimireco, I'd suggest you stop sweeping if you believe it's fixed. No need to waste your time when you've already convinced yourself you WON'T win, and CAN'T win because everyone is corrupt.

    Just a suggestion.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue to win at any age. (There are LOTS over 60, over 70, etc that have won prizes, including BIG prizes).

    Re: age

I'm not saying all are fixed, but being I worked for a very large 500 corporation that often had sweepstakes, I know what occurs.  I know there is corruption in big business.  But there are some legit sweeps.  When I say most I am speaking general.  You can believe what you want to believe, but I have been behind the scenes,  There is no reason for the companies to ask your entire birthday or even the year.  They can say .."Were you born after such year, or Are you over 18?   They do not need to know your birthday until the day you win.  So ask yourself why they ask for your entire birthday.  I know some is to get an idea of who buys their product, But again, they do not need to know the entire birthday.  I also know that much of the information submitted that is suppose to be shredded after the sweeps, does not make it to the shredder or deletion.  This incites Identity theft by unscrupulous emploee's of such companies.  Don't be fooled.  I am sorry if I offend you, but I have just seen too much in my days, which is the very reason I single out which sweeps I will enter.  I could give you examples of what I witnesses, and which companies, but quite frankly, I don't want to be sued.  But I will say, that the FTC has more restrictions and observation on sweeps that they did some time ago.

chudder4444:  Right on target with your observation.  Sweeps (unless specifically limited to certain age groups or geographic areas, etc. see rules) can be won by anyone of any age.

One recent post set out the premise that women never win tools.  Not true, as I won two (2) pallets of power tools and some really big power saws.

One post set out the premise that age is factor in winning a motorcycle.  Not true, as a 67 year old gentleman recently won a motorcycle from a different site.  How do I know this?  He is my electrician.  He and his wife are on a month long trip to Canada on their motorcycle.

This is a hobby that requires time and commitment plus a positive attitude.

If you are personally convinced that sweeps are fixed, then why waste your time.  If you don't like the sponsors rules regarding providing DOB, then skip those sweeps.  If you are concerned about identity theft, then do not enter any sweeps.

My motto:  their sweeps, their advertising money; their rules.

    Re: age

Amen, Marli! I get so very tired of the negativity. I'm only 48, but hope I never get to the point where life is one big negative, and everyone is out to get me. People with negativity so prevalent in their lives will get just that in return. Those with positive attitudes will get wonderful things. That's not pie in the sky dreaming, that's life, and how it can work if you allow it.

Postivie attitude + Patience + Knowledge = Winner.

Good luck to all those with POSITIVE attitudes and knowledge about how things work.

Jeff:  I gracefully waved goodbye to 50 several years ago.  My age (reserve the right to keep exact age private) and gender has never stopped me from winning some exceptionally nice grand prizes.

    Re: age

There is no need to worry about things you can't control. I will be 50 next year and dread having to choose the 50+ category, but I'll do it. I just won a bicycle at age 49, and I expect to win a car soon. :)

1CrazyCatLady:  Good positive attitude.  When if comes to sweeps, it is just a box to check or a date to fill in.  Congrats on bike.  Keep sweeping and winning.

    Thank you, Marli.

I will inform everyone here if things change when I turn 50. I don't expect it to. :)

    Re: age

Chudder, Marli, my other cat lady - RIGHT ON, girlfriends! I wouldn't want to be in my twenties or thirties again. Everyone (male and female) can't believe my age - they say I don't look it or act it, whatever that means. As long as you learn from past mistakes, whether idiot boyfriends (what was I thinking?) or anything else. I feel so much more intelligent and confident now. I wear what I want to - because I can and I don't have to answer to anyone but myself and my God. And I have NO PROBLEM speaking up when I KNOW I'm right about something! It feels SO GOOD!!  Suezq - where are you? I've usually noticed you're usually up @ all hours like me. Hope you're OK. Lov, SandySue.
