    Just a warning!

    Hello fellow Sweepers:

Just thought I would pass along what happended to me the other day.  The phone rang and woke me up so I was kinda drowsy.  Anyway the guy on the line was talking really excitedly and saying did I enter a contest online to win a Mini Cooper.  I had and replied yes.  He then stated that of all the thousands of entries, I was in the final 5000 that would win the car.

I could hear yelling in the background and he said it was others calling their prospective winners.  He then proceeded to ask if I knew where Branson was and that I had won a fabulous vacation.  I was getting quite excited but still a little apprehensive when he stated that this great vacation would only cost me $200 plus something and wasn't I excited?.  I stated that if you win you are not supposed to have to pay for anything.  He then started to get agitated and said in a sacastic tone, 'have I reached the wrong winner?'  I stated yes you have and he hung up quickly.

I have been waiting for that first win and am angry that these con people get our info and try to use it con us into some scheme!  He stated that he was from Summer Wind Resort.  Just wanted to warn everyone that these people are out there and working hard...  Angry

thanks for the heads-up, hotwhelz.  I would have been excited too since I'm waiting on a phone call notification.  Never had one of those.  Hope you get a notification - a legit notification - soon!

I am new to this site. Thanks for posting this warning. We all need to be reminded of people like this. I'm kind of used to this, as artists online get "chosen" a lot. Still, I know that I am not invincible, and they get smarter all the time.

Thanks for the warning.  These jokers give real sweeps a bad name.

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss

May the Joy and the Meaning of the Christmas Season fill your hearts throughout the year.

Happens all the time.  I receive what looked like an official letter saying I won a car or...... Then received a call asking for $150 for a vacation.  Anyway, most are scams.  Don't get excited until you receive a certified letter or fedex etc.  Those others are scams.  Even if you get an email, you must have an offical corporate office to contact and you can check on them with FTC and the name of the person sending the email.  Don't give out all your information until you verify the sender.  That so called notarized affidavit could be going to the wrong people.  Scammers are slick these days.  I have dealt with the Federal Trade commission before, and if it's a sweepstakes in question they will speak to you or return your call.  They did for me on several occasions.  If a person associated with a legit business can not be verified, they will let you know and tell you who to contact within the company regarding the matter.

Appreciate the warning! I also hate all the spam emails that obviously are sent to known "Sweepers" because of the phrasing and subject headings-- similar to some of the better known contests and sweeps that we have actually entered--they must get lists from some contest sites.

Just a Positive note !! I have had real good results unsubscribing from any businesses that have emailed me with ads after I have entered a Sweepstakes Today Sweep.

How annoying!  I hate getting my hopes up like that, only to have them crash to the ground and get stomped on.  (Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit melodramatic, but still.)  I went to a bridal show a few months ago, and for about two weeks afterward, I received so many calls telling me all about the great prizes I'd won (and all I had to do was pay a couple hundred dollars, attend a seminar, etc.).  I let the callers know that unless I'd actually won a free prize that would be delivered to me, I didn't want it.  They really got me excited the first couple times though.

All that yelling was the telemarketers doing their evil work....

    EVIL I say!

I have yet to get a phone call notifying me of a win, it's always been in the mail or via ups..

I do get a lot of calls that are just hangups, though...I imagine if I actually answered and didn't let it go to the machine, it would be some boisterous guy excitedly telling me that I was a winner...

    Oh well...

Thanks for the "heads up."  Sorry they woke you up to start your day off on a bad note.  Hope the next time your phone rings, it's a bonafide win for a big prize.

Thanks for the warning. Universal sweeps are real bad about that too. Everytime I enter one of them, I get calls.

When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
