    T-Mobile sweepstakes(?)

Hi I'm kewpie5448,I rec'd a phone call on Friday ,May 9th from a woman who siad she was one of the "T-Mobile"team,informing me that I'd won a Blackberry Pearl in their sweepstakes. She verified my information, such as name, address, and congratulated me and told me my prize would be sent out by UPS soon.It has been almost 2 weeks,so I called T-Mobile,both customer service and sales #'s-and they were clueless ,said "There are "T-Mobile teams from all over the country,we have no way of knowing where your call came from???!!!! PLUS,they were RUUUUDDDE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I enter a lot of sweeps here ,and I don't keep a log of what I enter--does ANYONE out there in sweepstoday land REMEMBER a sweep that was sponsored by T-Mobile and the prize was a Blackberry Pearl? I only enter one entry per person sweeps,so it HAD to be one of those. I don't know if what is happening to me qualifies as a sweeps scam or not,but sweems I would have had my prize by now. IThe only other thing I've ever won in a year of doing this,is a really expensive MOTO V8 phone, which was a 699.00 item, and that came within 4 days of me being notified by phone. Does anyone have any feedback about this-does it sometimes take forever to recieve prizes,or have I been "scammed" Good Luck(and no scams!) to everyone!Indifferent

I received my call on May 12 and was told my phone would be delivered within 30 days.  The sweeps was a one-timer offered by RIM & Lenos Software.  The phone number that I called to confirm was 800-966-4972.  They may be able to give you more info.  Sounds like you should have your phone in another 2 weeks or so.

Two weeks isn't a long wait at all...I'd wait at least a couple more weeks before I got too worried.  Lots of times the wait is 8-12 weeks after the completion of the sweep.

Congrats on win.  Be patient as sweeps fulfillment can be a waiting game.

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss

HI! It's kewpie5448 again-THANX so much to the people who replyed to my letter-I'm kinda new at this "sweeps" hobby, and it does sound like "Patience is the name of the game" in waiting for any prizes we may win-guess I figured they'd ALL be as quick as the Motorola people when I was notified I'd won 1st prize in the "Bend It With Beckham"sweeps last fall and won a Motorazr V8--it was beautiful, almost a 700.00 thing,I sold it for 300.00 to a friend to give to her brother(who is a Dr.)-and I got it UPS 4 days after I got the phone call. It sounds like recieving something THAT fast is the EXCEPTION,NOT the rule, right? I took down the phone# that one of the posts here listed,I'll call them, but maybe I'll just wait a couple more weeks, and BE patient-after all, this is just something I do for fun,and it's GREAT to win ANYTHING,even something little. I do it in my spare time, and it's harmless, and less expensive than what a lot of my girlfriends do(Go to the casino boat and LOOOOOSE lots of $$$$!)But thanks again to everybody, and really good luck to all of you guys-hope you win BIG!!!!

    Re: T-Mobile sweepstakes(?)

I too received a call from the fulfillment company for T-Mobile around the same time and won one of the Blackberry Pearl phones.  I was told it could take up to 30 days, and it arrived today by UPS.  However, after spending hours on the phone with them today (being given the runaround from both the people at the phone number on the enclosed letter and the T-Mobile customer service staff), I discovered that the phone is "locked" and can only be used with T-Mobile service.  After explaining the situation and the sweepstakes and the fact that we have 23 months left on our AT&T contract to numerous people, we learned that THEY EITHER CANNOT OR WILL NOT UNLOCK THE PHONE SO IT CAN BE USED WITH THE WIRELESS SERVICE OF OUR CHOICE.  One very helpful person (hah) said that he could unlock it if we paid the full retail price for the phone!  So it's basically a worthless phone unless you have T-Mobile service or you are willing to switch to T-Mobile service.  Another very helpful person (hah) at T-Mobile actually joked that we could keep it as a cool paperweight.  But after numerous phone calls, numerous service and technical support people, numerous times of being passed back and forth between 800 numbers, and numerous times of running into a brick wall with every one of the T-Mobile staff, I guess I will be taking my new Blackberry that I was very excited about winning, and putting it on E-bay.  And I will certainly never ever do business with T-Mobile...

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE RULES THAT STATES THAT T-MOBILE SERVICE IS REQUIRED - THAT IS WHAT IS SO UPSETTING.  IF ANY OF THE OTHER ST WINNERS FIND A WAY THAT THEY CAN USE THEIR NEW LOCKED BLACKBERRY, PLEASE LET US KNOW.  I'D REALLY LOVE TO KEEP MINE, AS I WAS JUST GETTING READY TO REPLACE MY OLD PHONE.
