Rudeness of members to other members

    Mr. Sweepy,

I would like you to know that I object to the RUDENESS of members patricjames and Renegade 153 posted on the MLB & GM-Roberto Clemente Sweep page on Friday, 9-7-07 @ 2:29 pm and 4:14 pm.

The majority of people who use this site have opinions about a lot of things, but they choose to act maturely and keep those opinions to themselves without inflicting their animosity onto other members who may be doing something they don't like.

I would imagine a lot of members would appreciate your counseling these two about their online member behavior.

    Thank you,

    Cindy

Yes, they were pretty bad! I guess as our total membership increases we're bound to get some such as them. I know that Mr. Sweepy has removed posting priveliges in the past to a few members and I hope he takes care of these yucks soon, too!

Cindy:  Agree with your feelings about certain comments in that particular sweep. No  Sometimes, people just post to get a reaction from the rest of us.  Then, they sit back and watch their actions create equally harsh reactions.  A few misplaced or hurtful remarks can quickly contaminate and spread throughout the entire sweepstake site.

Hopefully, this will not be the norm as most members are kind and caring even when joking around. That is one of the reasons I have enjoyed this site so much during the last 8 months.

Wonder if Mr. Sweepy is going to offer on-line counseling or better yet a course on posting manners?

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss

    Sweepers,

We are a very special community, encouraging and helpful beyond compare. When people like these enter comments that we find inappropriate or rude, we need to let Mr.Sweepy know, but we also need to not feed into their negativity. Adding comments in response to their comments only encourages them. I noticed today that patricjames came back to a one time contest and made a second comment.  People only do that when they want to see what others have written in response to their comment. Patricjames wanted to see if their "who cares" comment was going to stir things up--and of course, based on patricjames history, it did. Don't give these people the satisfaction of knowing they caused an uproar--they don't deserve the attention.

Here here..... you are absolutely right!!  (I have to admit, before I read your post, I had to poke fun at patric on a different sweep a few minutes ago :))

I just found out about this.  Patricjames will no longer be posting at this site.  My 17-year-old son AKA patricjames was found out earlier tonight.  All computer privileges have been rescinded indefinitely.  That means no more music sites, MySpace chats with friends, email, IM’s, or music downloads.  The home computer has been password protected and he must do all homework/research/classroom assignments from the computer lab at school.  Needless to say this has caused an uproar in the household.  I apologize for any rudeness or hurt feelings these “drive-by” postings may have caused.  If I could think of a more suitable punishment I would.  Strangling him came to mind but murdering a teenager is still a capital offense.  In most states.  If you could spread this post to the areas that are appropriate I would be most grateful.  Again my apologies.

That was admirable of you to admit to that.  I thought his "who cares" comment alittle rude,  but the punishment Way harsh. lol  I don't know of any other of his postings, but being a teenager, I guess it could be worse, some people get large nerves behind a computer when they think no one will ever really know who they are.

I don't know the comments made but i can tell you as a parent with adult kids that we have been there and done that. If there is a way for teenagers to embarass parents, they do..... It was exceptionally nice of you to be on top and apologize to everyone. And as a parents that has done all the steps you've taken above, they still outsmarted me on the computerEmbarrassed

I just happened upon this conversation (thanks for the NEW STUFF MR.SWEEPY)...Michael, I think you are an amazing parent. There are too few of you who realize that NOT showing a child, of Any age, that there are Always Consequences for inappropriate behavior, leads to a pretty inappropriate "adult". Naturally, 17 is one of the most difficult ages ( along with 2 - 102 ), but I think the acceptance of the old "boys will be boys" axiom has led to a pretty sorry state of affairs in this country, on many levels. No Soapbox, but Plaudits and High Fives for changing it into, : "Boy who will be boys, will loose their toys"!

I just looked up those comments and realized that I, too, was shocked enough to leave some spanks on another, one time only sweep. Now I'm feeling sad that I never doubted the remarks came from one of us 'Adults'--as that means we really do have members who...Sigh. Not enough time outs for them, I suspect. Not enough 'Michael's', either.

Thanks for your apology dad, but I imagine all of us parents understand kids will be just that "kids".

Thanks for the apology. Too many parents try to cover for their kids and not have them face the consequences of their actios.
