Depressed? Not winning? My new strategy

I started a year ago HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME

I notice a lot of people wondering about not winning so this is what I'm going to try

    CHANGE

The first thing is my avatar because it's easy.  A lot of sweeps sites talk about positive thinking so for now it makes me happy to see my granddaughter and pup racing on the beach in Cape Cod.  Do whatever it takes to make you be in a "happy zone"  maybe some nice music in the background? There are some avatars out there that depress me so I can just imagine it does to the owner every day to look at it.

Clear out all your cookies - most of them are not being used anyway because the sweeps have ended.  On my MAC I just went to Preferences and deleted all my cookies.  Yes, I will have to re-enter a lot of my log-ins but I have more time today because so many sweeps ended.

Change the time of day you enter.  This one will be hard for me because I enjoy entering with my coffee in the morning.  BUT it would do me much more good to take a walk with my dog, smell the roses, go to the exercize class I blow off more days than not.  THEN I know I will start entering sweeps with a good postitive feeling.  If you're not winning entering every day at about the same time, what would it hurt to try a different time of day anyway.

Last week I googled how to change your ILP # and one suggestion was to shut off your modum and see if that changes.  I'm trying it.  I don't have the courage to do anything more drastic to my computer and I sure don't know what to do if you have a PC.  It also says you can contact the phone company to see if they will change it for you.

    Any more ideas?

It shouldn't make any difference what your IP is or what time of day you enter the sweepstakes or whether you are think positive thoughts in terms of winning.  It's all a numbers game, mathematical.  The probability of winning any sweepstakes is going to be very close to zero. So, you should not expect to win until you enter at least several thousands of sweeps and even then you should still not really expect to win because your chances will likely still be very slim. See my post on the "odds" , read it and digest it.

My suggestion, take a break from sweeping.  Just do it for fun and don't expect to win that way if you win you'll be surprised. You could for fun if you wanted to calculate your theoretical winnings.. lol ;0

Re: Depressed? Not winning? My new strategy

You are right - it shouldn't make any difference - but what if it does?  I don't entirely trust all sweeps administrators.  I have a "thing" about why they have to ask for our birthdates for instance.  If it's not for alcohol or adult material - they could just as easily ask "are you over 21" and put that fear to rest.  How do you know that they don't have written into the program that all entries that are over 40 are immediately thrown out?  (I have two daughters that do computer programming so I know this is possible)  We know that some sweeps track you by your ILP # so they could also eliminate everyone that has been entering for more than three months say.  You can't go to any sweeps site that doesn't tell you the time of day DOES matter.  In my thinking, so many people have read somewhere that the best time to enter is between 2:00am and 6:00 (IW's) that now everyone is entering then so maybe it's better to enter at another time.  We know there are sweeps administrators don't like the sweepers that enter regularly although that thought boggles my mind.  I know when I've received a prize - or for that matter - entered a sweepstakes and it appeals to me I've talked about it and discussed why I like it with friends and family.  When I send a prize to someone that's one more person who knows about/likes the sponsor.  Much better for them than swamping us with newsletters, emails and wanting names of our friends. Even if you "opt out" from receiving emails they send you one to thank you for entering!

So, my theory is as good as yours - just coming from different places.

Re: Depressed? Not winning? My new strategy

I love your thinking!  And I like to remember the advice of others...just because you're not a big winner  (not you specifically you might already be a big winner as I write this!) right this second doesn't mean you're not a big winner.  It takes persisitance - and time.  Even if you've already won something months ago - you may not be notified or get it yet.  Or what about the sweeps you entered that doesn't end for several months?

I've won lotsov little stuff - nothing over a hundred dollars but I'm over the moon happy about all of my wins.  All of it are things I would want to get for myself anyway but this is more frugal - and a few came just in time to be the perfect gift!  I balance my lucky list with small bloggy entries too - with blog wins the ARV is lower but your chances are higher.  You know - a lot less entries compared to the big sweeps.  And each of these wins keep me going for my lucky list!

And since I don't have the time others do with a toddler I stick with Mr Sweepy so I can keep track of my entries.  With blog entries if I really want to enter I put it into google docs as multiple blogs tend to have the same prize like toys or vaccuums etc.  But mostly I enter expiring sweeps - over in a day - instant gratification for wins and don't have to keep track!

I also will do that with Mr sweepy - I go through my lucky list first, then if I have time, new sweeps then  if I still have timeI look at expiring and find quite a few I missed just from skipping a day or two here and there.  Mostly though, if I'm short on time I stick with my lucky list.  I have to say I love Mr Sweepy. I would bet he gets that a lot from girls and guys.

So that's my main two pieces of advice - think in the long run - you never know if something you already entered a while ago will surprise you tomorrow and every so often enter a blog giveaway...your chances are much higher so it wll keep you going for the big wins.

You know I never thought about the age thing, I fib on the day because I don't like to give out that kind of info maybe I should shave off a few years?  I never liked the idea of lieing about age I love everyone of my 39 years - after all the alternative is worse!   Not being around for thirty nine years. Anyway great post and if I have the time I'll keep checking back for other's suggestions.  My two year old is napping on my lap so I have anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours.  Although that would be pushing bedtime up!

    Have a lucky day.

Sweetie, I have tried it all. Losing sleep, switching times, and taking breaks. It doesn't matter. It is just luck of the draw. I have been doing online since 2005 and mail in a lot longer than that. I have won( all different times of the day) some here and there, but not a lot to matter. The most important thing is to be consistent, quantity, and enjoy it or you won't last.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,

My personal opinion is to "put it out there" what I expect to get back.  I expect to win big.  I have a "vision board" of all the things I really would like to win, or things I will buy with my winnings.  Yes, I believe most of the time it's a numbers game or luck of the draw, but heck, someone has to win, right?

So when I feel myself getting frustrated or feeling in a rut, I take a break.  If it isn't fun, then what's the point in having a hobby.

Thanks so much.  Sweeping is so much better than spending my money on the lottery.  Some people are such wet blankets and I think your mental health doesn't hurt one bit.  Hey, if changing my avatar or going for a walk helps my head what have I lost?  I also think it would be nice if we told each other how nice our prize is - why we like it - how nice the administrator was - you know, it can't hurt and maybe a sponsor would be happy and have another sweepstake.

Re: Depressed? Not winning? My new strategy

I am in the same boat. enter often, sometimes spending 3 or 4 hours a day. afte 4 or 5 days of nothing. I need a break, a person can only take so much no matter who you are. I have been entering sweeps for nearly 30 years. I used so many stamps and cards and envelopes my family gave them to me as gifts. My favorite Aunt who died of *** cancer in 1994 used to always say "someday you are going to win the big one". she was my biggest supporter. I have won many small prizes over the years and taken many breaks but no matter what I DO NOT GIVE UP!. just keep plugging away and telling myself that even if i cant enter every day IT ONLY TAKES ONE entry to win. and yes I do believe that in todays technology there are prize administrators that pull  entries for people who do it consistenly, or over a certain age or whatever . Keep your chin up, dont pay to much attention to all the negativity , read the winners page and know that it does happen and sometimes it takes a long to happen. Smile

Re: Depressed? Not winning? My new strategy

I'm the all time greatest loser on SweepstakesToday.com. I too am going to start deleting my cookies everyday. But I already enter sweeps at all time of the day and night. I also enter from three different IP addresses. I never cheat by entering under multiple email addresses, but it might be a good idea to get a new email address and do away with the old one. I don't know if this works or not, but when I first started sweeping, I thought it would generate a bunch of crap in my mailbox (the real one at the end of the driveway), so I entered with weird combinations of upper and lower case characters. For example, I could spell Charlotte, NC like Charlotte, cHARLOTTE, chArlotte, charloTTe, etc. This way, if I got mail with these strange spellings, i'd know it came from the sweepstakes. I don't do this anymore, but it seems like I won a lot more when I did this. This is my theory as to why this might have improved my odds (knowing relational database logic and knowing how slack these programmers are that set up these sweepstakes). If I always entered the sweepstakes to same way, my data would only be listed as one record but the number of sweeps would increase by an increment of 1 in a separate, but related table. But if I entered the sweeps with a different combination of upper and lower case characters, and whoever set up the database didn't really know how to set up a database, my data would be entered as multiple records. Now, how the different entries are tallied is a total mystery to all of us. But once again, knowing how slack these programmers are, i'm betting that I have better odds by having multiple records than with having one record that is linked to a separate table that shows the number of times i've entered. I could be wrong on all of this. But in some cases, I bet i'm not.

By the way, i'm in it for a Harley, a Jeep, a boat, or a trip to Vegas. I only play about 40 or 45 a day because I don't care to win a Fortwo Smartcar or a trip to Texas or a diamond necklace. You would think that skipping so many sweeps would keep you off any "professional sweepers" list that they might keep. But it doesn't help my luck any. I just don't waste my time on stuff I don't really want.

I think your idea of upper and lower case letters is intreging.  You could change your roboform every day just by a letter or two - not changing the information at all so that always stays the same.  Let me know how this works for you.  I would say you'd need to do it for a few months to tell.

I agree with you about the prizes in the sense that I only enter for the things I want.  When I get a bag of M&M's or a jar of Salsa I think of them as "samples".  To me a prize is when you win something you want but can't afford to go buy for yourself.  I must say though, I do enter a lot of sweeps because I have 3 daughters, 9 granddaughters and 1 grandson so I am thrilled when I win something for them that I couldn't afford to give them otherwise or at least something I know they would enjoy.

On second thought, after thinking about your idea, I don't know but possibly you could be eliminated because you were trying to fool the administrators and according the rules I've read on sweepstakes, you don't want to do anything they could question as cheating.

Maybe Mr Sweepy will respond or some people who have been sweeping for longer than me.

sweetie over at sweetie's sweeps has been winning big for years and feels 10:30 am and pm est  is very lucky for her with instant wins and  one other tie I can't remember. Plus she says less people enter lat at night/early morning hours so it can be easier.  Many of the IWG will award  the prize to the next winner after the winning time if no one has won.

She also usually does the if you cannot see this game - all the time - on all the ones she's won.  When its there it proves to her the sweep is timed

I'm thinking contests likely have computer techies who know that trick and can fix it but  I even though it likely wouldn't help you win...it would make itmuch more interesting to fill out the forms.  Have a bit of fun typing.
