To all the Moms !!! Happy Mother's Day !!!!
"My husband dedicated this poem for his Mom who he lost 4 years ago, and to my Mom who I suddenly lost this past January"......
A bright and glowing welt lay upon my knee
And tears streamed down my face
Her gentle hand eased the pain while kind words,
flowed from her understanding face.
A stern look and crossed arms met me at the door
A boundary line overshot by a mile
I know she saw that I understood because her
Disappointment changed into a smile.
I walked across that auditorium floor
Looking into the faces of teachers and friends
I didn’t focus on their reaction I reached instead for her
And there she was face filled with pride.
Blood flowing down my nose is broke
My corner working in a frenzy
I know I’ve lost but will not surrender
When I see the tears fall from her face
I marry and my kids are born
The lawn needs mowing, fences to mend.
Next week the bills are due, no time to see
Her face this month perhaps in a week or two
All these things I do recall
Kind words and help in all my falls
Enjoyment, pride, at the heights I reached
Disappointment rarely did I see
The room is filled with beep, and beeps
No time to remember things
Time now to focus on the moment
God is taking her from me
This day is tart, maybe, semi -sweet
My kids make gifts for my wife
Flowers fill a vase by the sink
But always this day forever to be
My Mother’s Day
For both my moms
One who gave me my life as a child
One who gave me my future, My Wife, and thus five of my beautiful children
May God hold you both in his gentle arms for eternity.
