    Firefox

I recently attempted to begin using Firefox, but am not able to open "flash" sweeps.  Even after I follow all the links to "get adobe flash" it still tells me that I need flash.  Does Firefox not have the ability to use flash?  Does anybody else have this problem?  I can open them with the AOL browser (which I just realized is  slow,  but I have been using it for the last 5 years without realizing how quick Internet Explorer and Firefox were) and it also works with Internet Explorer.  Kim Komando says that firefox is the fastest out there, but it does not work. Maybe I should call Kim.

    Re: Firefox

I use Firefox exclusively for my sweeps.  It is the only browser that is trouble-free, for me.  Sounds like you may be either opening the "flash" in a separate window, or you may have to reinstall firefox and adobe flash.  You may want to go to the mozolla firefox site and scan the FAQ's to see if that can help.  If anyone can help you, it's Kim...I get all her tips, and sitwes, and downloads...she makes it easy.   Good Luck!

    Re: Firefox

I love Firefox and have been usingit for a couple years now.  However, for the last few months I have been unable to open some of the sweeps (flash I think) and have to open IE to enter.  That is a real pain.  The problem started when I got an update screen one day and followed thru with it.  I can't even remember what the update was for, as didn't think anything about it at the time. Ever since I have had this problem.  Still, I really like firefox, specially the tabbing. Some day when our son has time, I m sure he can get it straightened out for me.

    Re: Firefox

I know when I downloaded firefox I had to download the shockwave flashplugin for firefox, even though I already had shockwave downloaded on my computer.  It's an plugin needed for firefox. , if you click on tools at the top of your firefox browser and then click on addons, then click on plugins, if you don't see shockwave flash in there, then you need to download the shockwave plugin for firefox. You can go to mozilla home page and cick on addons and then on the left click on plugins and shockwave is the last one listed there, there is two listed, you need the last one.

    Re: Firefox

thanks for the info mesweet.  I did what you said and when I clicked on plug-ins it said I had Shockwave flash 10.0r22 and then  after that it said I had Shockwave for Director, Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in version 11.  I still can't get it to work on those sweeps.  Do you have any idea what is still wrong? It used to work till I downloaded an "update" several months ago.  thanks for any advice you might have!

    Re: Firefox

My old computer died about 6 weeks ago so I bought a new one. I had no problem downloading the flashplayer on IE but after downloading FIREFOX it would not let me download the flashplayer no matter how many times I tried. (The old computer was XP and the new one is VISTA). I did a little research at that time and it seems that there was massive hacking going on with Adobe Products and it appears that Firefox was blocking the installation until Adobe came up with a "patch". I haven't heard any updated news about the hacking but about 2 weeks later I was successful in downloading the "flash player". Go to the FIREFOX help section - Trouble Downloading Adobe Flash Player.

My new computer has Kapersky Anti-virus instead of Norton and while the Kapersky allows me to download Adobe products it flags them as "Extremely Dangerous" to have on your computer.  They give no explanations nor alternative programs. Got to have a flash player, right?
