The Lally Innovation Competition aims to encourage innovators to generate ideas and spur economic development. Lally welcomes entries from prospective MBAs who have strong imaginations and a passion for innovation, along with an interest in transforming their ideas into reality.

Entrants must be applicants to the Lally MBA Program. Winners will be chosen by a panel of Lally School faculty, alumni, and regional entrepreneurs. A public online vote will also provide a component of the final award decision. Winners will receive a tuition scholarship for the Lally School’s MBA Program worth up to $60,000. The total amount of the scholarship award will depend on the strength of the candidate’s MBA application. In addition to receiving a prestigious tuition scholarship, winners will receive mentoring and support to develop their ideas at Lally. The first deadline for competition entries is December 15, 2009.

Tues. 11/3/09 9:35 a.m.

A FedEx man came to the door this morning with an envelope from the Accounts Payable Dept. at Scripps Networks. There was no need for a signature--he just handed it to me & wished me a nice day. (Little did he realize how nice-a-day it was turning out to be...!!!)

I ripped it open to find a check for: $75,000.00---the HGTV Grand Prize money!!!!!!!!

I can hardly believe it arrived so soon! But I'm soooo happy it did! This has all happened so quickly--it seems surreal and feels almost anticlimactic. But I am holding the check in my hand!~~ It will really "hit home" when it clears through my bank. I made copies of the check--for records & am still staring at it as I type this post...Well, after my "daze" wears off, I'm off to the bank & to set up an appointment with my CPA.

(I guess it will seem more realistic when the check clears my bank & of course when I begin to deal with the taxes.)

Well, I've finally made it. I've been a ST member since 2006.

Cash from GNC $2000 Won in 2008 (same day as cash from GNC)

Luggage from ATT (instant win) $ 300 Won in 2008

miscellaneous wins $663 Won 2006-2009

Those include gift cards, food, candy, magazines, books, DVD, backpack, cap, t-shirt, Kimberly Clark vouchers, Sam's 300 tickets, Universal studio ticket, Jergen's gift bag, toilet bowl cleaner (LOL), song downloads and ringtones.

Total winnings $10,742 most of which came in 2008. That was a good year!

Summer Olympics (Beijing China)

I won a grand prize sweepstakes last year to the olympics. It was an amazing package that valued $32,000. It was great because Donna and I were able to use it as our honeymoon. We got married on August 2nd and flew out on the 5th. Below are some of our experiences there.

Hello everyone. I am Scoca31 aka Costelcoca's brother. My wife Donna and I had an amazing time in Beijing over a year ago. It was an amazing trip. They waited for us at the airport and even gave us beverages on the bus. We were very surprised at how we were treated. We received a badge that we wore in the hotel which gave us access to go just about anywhere in the hotel. Splenda and Johnson & Johnson had a lobby for us where we could go use the internet, watch tv, and eat and drink any time of the day. It was a blast.

We were taken to a restaurant on the first day. Donna and I were looking through a menu to choose something from all the exotic foods. We then noticed that the food was being brought out one after another. It wasn't really a menu but a list of what would be brought to us. We were waiting for a check to pay but it never came. It was all paid for. Each day we were taken to a different famous Chinese restaurant. It was so amazing.

The opening ceremony was unbelievable. We had seats on the 16th row up from the platform. It was so amazing now that I think back at that ceremony is was like a dream. We stood three hours just to get through security. Everyone was soaked, wet from the humidity and heat.

We had tickets to 5 other events. Male gymnastics, rowing, swimming, men's basketball, and beach volleyball. The basketball game was a blast. We even saw George Bush sitting across the arena from us. Our seats were 11 rows from the court. Cobe played great. We also go to visit the Great Wall. That in itself would have been worth the trip. The hotel was very luxurious. When we came back to the hotel late at night the room service folded our dirty socks that we left on the floor and even stacked our loose change on the table. When we were almost done with our drink there were waitresses standing by and before I could reach to fill my glass again they would rush to the table to pour my drink into my glass. Donna and I thought that was very funny every time it happened.

We received other stuff along with the trip. Two months before our wedding and the trip I received a check for $7,500.00 and I took it to the bank right away. It helped us pay for our wedding and we also were able to use it to purchase a new Dodge Charger. I could go on so long about this awesome experience but most of all my wife and I know that it's a gift from God. It was an amazing blessing for us and I believe God blessed our wedding and marriage because of our decision to stay pure for one another to the day of our wedding night. What a trip!

Taxes? No way! Donna and I actually got money back when we did our taxes. We were suppose to receive $4,000.00 back in taxes but when calculating the $32,000.00 grand prize we only got back $2,000.00 back from Uncle Sam. We rejoiced over this as well because we did our taxes honestly and were prepared to pay whatever it took when considering how much God has blessed us. God is continuing to do amazing things in our young marriage. Now that it has been over a year I could tell a lot more stories about what God has done for us.

Had been in a slump lately but today got the call that i won first prize in the Sleep Inn Little Monk sweeps that ended not too long ago. Won cash, a hotel gift card ( and as I wrote in another post, I'd been wanting to win some of those for picking my daughter up from college), a robe A Monk bbolehead and an Ipod shuffle. Ka-ching. GLTA - I am still driving that Prius I won last year and loving it for those drives up to college. Oh and best news of all my mammogram was fine so am now a one-year survivor. Woo Hoo.

Yesterday UPS delivered the$10,000 that I won from Proximo Spirits 1800 Man Cave Promotion.The bank couldn't believe that I won that type of prize and put a 10 day hold on the check. They said they have seen people get their finances messed up with fake checks. This is not the first ePrize check that I have cashed at my bank. I got a check for $1960.00 to help with taxes on the Man Cave that I won from Sears. The value on that stuff eventually came to around $15,000. The problem is I won it last year but didnt get the merchandise until this year...now I have to file 1099 totaling over $25,000 on my taxes for January 2010.It might be higer if I keep winning!

Yesterday afternoon I received a phone call from Scrips Networks (HGTV) in New York, NY informing me that I was the:

Grand Prize winner of "$75,000.00" in the HGTV GFF-U 2009 Sweepstakes!!!

The sweep was a daily & ended on 10/2/09.

At first I actually thought the phone call was a scam. I told the woman who called me, "Yeah, right, sure...tell me you wouldn't be skeptical if someone called & told you-you won $75K..." But after speaking to her for a while, phoning her back at the Scrips Network office in NY to confirm her phone call and receiving three corresponding email messages from HGTV....I think I went into shock. (I even contacted Mr. Sweepy to inform him & verify information about the sweep.) I also downloaded a copy of the sweep rules for my files.

After a long, almost sleepless night--up & down ect., this morning I caught my breath & my feet finally feel like they are back on the ground again. I was informed that the Affy & other paperwork will be sent out by FedEx on Friday (today) & will arrive here Monday morning. I still think I'm in mild shock--since I've been daydreaming and forgetful quite a bit today. From what I understand, HGTV will issue a check for the $75K.

This afternoon I said a second prayer of thanks & decided to post the win. I am so thankful to God and of course to Mr. Sweepy for this great web site! Additionally I hope some of my "winning-luck" seeps over to other ST members! All I can say is keep on keeping on.

E-Prize just called and emailed affid. that I won the Grand Prize worth $15,000. Of course I will get it appraised as I am going to sell the diamond. I already have 3 jewlers interested in buying the Diamond. From what I am told I will propbably only get about $7,000 wholesale but that's $7,000 more than I started with. After deductions I will only owe a few hundred in taxes. Also the appraiser said that if it actually appraises for less he will give me documentation to to that affect to lower my tax. No cash option on this sweeps. Dang!

HOW TO WIN DVD Update

Okay, there's been a slight problem. I gave the DVDs to an associate for addressing and mailing. He had a label printer he was going to use to make address labels. He watched the DVD and discovered the video wouldn't play on his computer. I only checked the video on MY computer, and it worked fine.

He left a voice mail message alerting me to his difficulty, but I never got it. I assumed the DVDs had shipped, but he was waiting on me to get back to him.

So I can give you a complete refund or you can choose to wait a few more days until I get the problem fixed. It's up to you.

I'm so embarrassed. I deeply apologize for falling down on my responsibility to get this done. I deserve total blame on it.

If you want a refund, let me know at RobinBullock@usa.com. Otherwise, I'll assume you still want the DVD.

Hi Everyone!

I am still in disbelief, but I received a phone call saying they wanted to speak to me about my essay I submitted for the Victorinox 125^th Anniversary Contest. They asked me to tell them about the essay, which was about my wonderful Grandpa, and I cried the entire interview. They said not to worry, they were all crying too! Anyway, it is a very family-oriented company and my essay was chosen as the Grand Prize Winner for a 7-day, 6-night trip to Switzerland! I am so excited! There are two types of entries for the contest, with the video portion ending October 31, 2009 - I'm not sure when the essay portion ended.

Thank you fellow sweepers for your encouragement! There are many times when I am tempted to stop entering sweeps but I see so many wonderful words of encouragement from fellow sweepers & Mr. Sweepy, that it helps me keep going. UPDATE/ Flawless Diamond General Dollar Sweeps

Well I received the Diamond said to be worth $15,000 retail. Fact is after taking it to a 3 gemologist I have gotten 3 different opinions, none anywhere near $15,000. Highest has been $8,000 retail. But I have another appointment on the 9th. I called eprize and Neil Yakle returned my call. Seems eprize bought the diamond for $9,800 and that is what they will send as a 1099. They said they were giving me a break due to the rules state approximate value $15,000. I told Neil if they new they bought it retail for $9,800 then advertising it as $15,000 value was false advertising. At any rate I will not be able to get a Fair Market Value appraisal for anywhere near $15,000. But at least eprize has lowered the 1099 fact. Whatever I get on the Fair Market Value is what I can sell it for. I should be able to get at least $5,000 for it. But one Gemologist told me that the diamond actually retails for 6 to $7000. There is such a mix of opinions and one jeweler who also appraises diamonds would not appraise the diamond because he had never seen such a flawless diamond with the list of information about the diamond as they sent to me using old terms not used in the Diamond industry anymore. That jeweler would not even consider buying the diamond. Seems to me some where scared of the diamond. I have two more gemologists to see this next week. I guess I will take the highest offer enough to at least pay the taxes and come out with a profit. But I will never again go for a Gem unless they give a cash option. This is just too much trouble. And I am not the kind of Texas girl that has much use for diamonds. If I had a big diamond on my finger I'd probably lose it while raking horse poop. So much for entering Gem sweeps.
