    Bragging Allowed Under Certain Circumstances

Will keep this simple.  Started 12/31/06 with ST and have never looked back.

From smallest win (buggy thing that refused to cling to my windows) to largest win ($10K plus approx $2K in extras from Dell) is quite a span.  Add to that winnings from lottery ($2.00 weekly is this big spender's limit), multiple radio, in-store, and local contests and the total (nearing $30K) is astonishing.

This hobby allows me to improve my standard of living and garners multiple gifts for my friends, family, and charity.  The year is not over and I fully expect to win again and again.

If inquiring minds want to know:

Yes, it can be time-consuming.  No, I do not worry if I am unable to enter every sweep each day as I have other commitments.

Yes, I consider sweeping a relaxing and enjoyable hobby with excellent benefits.  No, I do not depend upon wins in lieu of a job.

Yes, I assume I will win every sweep.  No, I am not jealous if someone else wins.

Yes, I usually read the rules.  No, I do not consider myself a lucky person.

Yes, I have won instants.  No, I do not think there is a particular time of day to win.

Yes, I have won more than one grand prize.  No, I do not think winners are only chosen from one state.

Yes, I have won tools (considered by some to be guy things).  No, I do not think sweeps are rigged to exclude women or discriminate due to age.

Yes, I report all my winnings even the small ones.  No, I do not want to pay penalty and interest to the IRS.

Yes, I am an early retiree.  No, I do not just stay home entering sweeps as I am a working (minimum of 30 hours weekly) non-paid Food Pantry Director.

Yes, I have fulfilled my goal of winning a trip.  No, I do not want the sponsor to give me $$$ instead.

Yes, I would like new kitchen appliances.  No, I do not need them as mine work just fine.

Yes, I would like all new furniture.  No, I do not need new furniture as mine is only five years old.

Yes, I have received and used every prize except that clingy bug thing.  No, I will not talk trash about the sponsors.

Yes, I have difficulty entering some sweeps just like you.  No, there is nothing I can do to solve a programming problem.

Yes, I answer those same questions every time I enter.  No, I do not understand why sponsors need the same info day after day.

Yes, I have experienced dry spells with no wins.  No, I do not think it is a conspiracy against me.

Yes, I have found some sweeps are in the wrong category.  No, I will not blame Mr. Sweepy, but will email him and politely request him to review same.

I could list each sweep win and risk boring you silly, but instead I will close with this short reminder:

    ENTER, ENTER, AND ENTER OFTEN.

A special word of thanks to Mr. S. (Craig) and his industrious staff for keeping me organized.

Now, where is that new car Automobile or truck that seems to elude me?

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Marli:  If anyone deserves to brag you do.  You are an awesome person and not only have you done well in sweeps, but have obtained wealth beyond wealth in life.  I love reading your posts because you are always positive, supportive and helpful.  May your life be filled with continued wins.  You deserve all that you obtain.

PS: Love your sweeping philosophy, and I must admit mine is very much like yours.

Marli, you are an inspiration to us all.  You not only do good work for others when you are not sweeping, you are the most encouraging member of the ST family.  I respect what you do immensely and admire you for always being positive to everyone.  I hope that many more wins come your way as you share them selflessly with others who really need help.  You are a sweeping angel.

Marli, I loved your post! It seems you view your actions as choices. Many times people act as though they are backed into a corner and blame everyone or everything external. Good for you.

I didn't know about your volunteer work - I love that you do that! Sometimes I think I should do something similar just to get out of "my head" and interact more with other people. I give 50% of my prizes away because there are many unexpected wins that I don't have a use for and people are thrilled to receive them.

I'm broke right now because I haven't worked in a year and a half (the reason is a whole other story I don't want to get into) but I know I am so lucky to have a roof over my head every day and when I'm hungry there's always food within reach. I give to charities, even if I just mail a check of $10 - maybe next time I'll be able to send $25. Right now I'm also donating small amounts to a particular Presidential candidate, in that way too I feel I'm choosing the direction of my life, at least making a attempt to anyway.  It's corny but life doesn't happen to you. There are certain choices we can make and when you make your own choices you feel empowered.

I agree! Don't get mad at the companies who are giving away these prizes! (Can you imagine how counterproductive that is .. that's very, "like, duh!") I too know that I WILL win, there is absolutely no question about it. It's simply numbers. Think of those bingo/lotto machines which go round and round and pop out a ball. I look at each one of my entries as going into a huge machine. One of my balls may be pulled out first or last, a month from now or a year from now but it is going to happen. I'm no luckier than anyone else. The wins will be proportionate to your number of entries. I try to remain positive and optimistic. But when I'm not feeling that way, I enter as many as I can like a robot or a factory worker and when I've had enough I stop because 50 entries was better than nothing.

During a long, dry spell I remind myself of all those potential winning balls in the machine already, and continue to add to it. If I'm really fed up of sweeping, I give myself permission to take time off. I no longer enter for a prize I don't particularly want to win, it would be different if I was into ebay. And I've kept my entries to a manageable number. There are so many things we can do to increase our chances of winning. Thanks Marli!

Re: Bragging Allowed Under Certain Circumstances

Thanks everybody for generous and kind words.  There is something about sending positive (that you really mean) words and congrats (once again, that you really mean) that recognizes our collective efforts.  Negativity is so counter-productive.  Even the smallest win is important.  Newbies can ask the same question time and time again.  Many do not know about the search features of ST and I try to reference them in that direction.

Comparing the random win draws to those air-generated bingo machines is great as long as they keep using the same machine.  With lottery in CA, they switch machines.  Duh!  I could holler machine switching is not fair, but then I won several thousand from CA lottery last year.  There goes my opportunity to complain.

Never thought of myself as a robot doing the same thing day after day, but how true.  Only difference is this robot can get up and walk away.  LOL

Anyway, I used to post this often:  Keep sweeping and entering.  If you don't enter (and be sure to follow the rules), you cannot win.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
