    Mechanical entries

When you begin to fill out a form and the first letter brings up options below, for instance NAME you double click or type in L and the option Lynn appears, Does using these options constitute a "mechanical" entry. Also, I've made a blunder from time to time, inserting a comma instead of a period, a 2 rather than @ and my most memorable was naming myself LUSH instead of LRUSH. Very uncool. But these mistakes faithfully come back to haunt me every time I fill out a form. Its a cookie issue I think? Is there any way to get rid of this incorrect info?

If you're using Internet Explorer, the function that does that is called 'Auto Complete'.  You can clear the Auto Complete history by choosing "Tools', then 'Internet Options' from the drop-down menu.  That opens a box that has tabs across the top.  Choose the 'content' tab, then choose 'Auto Complete'.  It's got instructions listed for clearing the history (something about going to the 'General' tab, choosing 'delete' (under the 'Browsing History' heading) then choosing 'delete forms' or 'delete passwords').

I don't believe that using auto-complete counts as a mechanical entry, but I'd be interested to hear from others regarding that, because I mostly use auto-complete when entering sweeps at my work computer.

Yeah.  How do you clear this using Firefox.  I did it once and can't remember what I did. I have a ton of mistakes on there, and old codes to get rid of.  Thank goodness I use Autofill now, I was getting so frustrated with myself.

If you run your mouse down over any of the choices and then hit your delete key, it will delete them. (Note: this works in Internet Explorer, would assume it works the same for Firefox.)

It works as you describe in firefox, also.

Thanks everybody! I'm using firefox and someone else told me I can just delete my cookies under control panel and start fresh but being less than savvy with these new- fangled devices I was a bit nervous about that approach.  The delete key thing sounds better.  Thanx again LOL

    Re: Mechanical entries

Thank you so much I let someone else use my computer to enter some sweepstakes and I had all that stuff in there for a year or so, plus all my mistakes, it so nice to see that stuff go, and I  won't hit it by mistake,  I tried numberous times to get it out of there.  Thanks again....

On my old computer I used IE and was able to just hit delete and be done with it.  Now I have a Mac and use Firefox and the delete doesn't work on it.  What now?  I know I went under preferences and did it somehow.  I've tried all kinds of ways to fix it, but haven't hit on the right one yet.  I am definitely not a computer wiz.  Not even a wiz-ette.
