JuJu, I don't even know what to say. I have been in extremely similar situations, and I know how it just hurts, and sometimes all you can do is cry. I am praying for you and your family, asking for the strength to get through this and then some. But, there is also a time for business too, even if you don't want to deal with any of it, you need to, it is important. You said that your husband got let-go for not meeting quota, well, where is that in the employee contract, and do they have to give any notice? A lot of places just can't up and fire you without oral and written notice to shape up or get shipped out. And yes, it is weird that they would let your husband go when they found out what your biopsy was for (luckily my husband is a cop, and his brothers in blue gave him all sorts of sick time for his surgery and helped us a lot, his co-workers and boss were all there for us, not against us, and I am sorry that your husbands work wasn't the same), this needs to be looked into. But for now, your husband has been fired, and he needs to go apply for state unemployment, chances are, he will get it. Then, when he does apply, he needs to go to the job and family services, and apply for the medical card and food stamps to get you through this. IF you find out that he was illegally let go, and that the company didn't follow policy when letting him go, attorney up girl, it is time to rock their world and get your retirement. This is no joke either, gotta get mean even if we don't feel like it sometimes. If they broke policy with him, they have opened themselves up for a huge lawsuit, and don't talk to them about it, seek legal council right away. (Sometimes if it is a black and white case, an ambulance chaser will take the case, so it won't be any out of pocket for you, and besides, if you do sue, it won't see the inside of a courtroom anyhow.) When it comes to your health care and medicines, states do have assistance programs for bills and treatment plans as well. I know that my husband takes methotrexate (a cancer drug for his sarcoid) and it costs a lot, along with the handful of other pills that he takes each day. So, what I am saying I guess is, be strong right now, and be brave. Take care of yourself, but don't feel hopeless, even though that seems near impossible.
If you want, feel free to email me at mindyedmiston@yahoo.com anytime, or you can call if you just want someone to listen to you,

ps- just out of curiosity, what state are you in if you don't mind me asking? I can do a little digging with my spare time and see what help is out there for you....... And, when you family needs help, say so. I will be more than happy to send what money I can to help you in your time (I am sure others feel the same way) of need, I hope that others would do that for me too.
Do well in your surgery tomorrow, and be strong.
