Well I often wonder why they ask for your exact birthday with the  year. For  One,  it can cause identity theft, and for another, they need only ask if you are over 18 or a certain age.  They do not need to know the year or day until you win.

I don't understand why they ask it. I hate answering questions so personal before winning.

I noticed on the Barbie sweeps they mentioned that the law requires them to ask that question. Did you happen to see that, mimireco?

I think the winners are drawn at random without regard to the specifics of the individual. If anything, it is the contests where you have to use a given UPC code or product code that indicates you didn't buy anything that is the biggest disadvantage. I won a energy bar with a given code, but I can't see winning a grand prize without an actual code.

CrazyCatLady, thanks for the list.  Actually, I had entered this one and was glad to see lots of women winning.

It is really not necessary for sweeps to ask for the entire birth date m/d/y.  All they  have to ask if you are over the age of 18 or whatever the age requirement is.  But sometimes it's opinion they are looking for, but sweeps I think they ask too much info.  That's why we have so much identity theft nowadays.  Actually I am about to write to the FTC and ask that they put limitations on the age info the sweeps ask for due to fairness and identity theft.

Oneita:  Saw your post about tool sweeps won by men and I wanted to post this:

October 2007, I won Ridgid Power Tools $2,899.  This was not a hammer and screwdriver assortment.  It was heavy-duty power tools.  They arrived on two different pallets.  I have been very fortunate in winning many small and medium sweeps.  I have been extra fortunate in winning several very large sweeps.

I have not won anything yet from DIY, but I keep entering and hoping.

I do enter some of the motorcyle sweeps.  Not sure if I would actually begin riding a motorcyle again, but it sure would be fun to win one especially with the cost of gasoline.

I enter for lawnmowers and a variety of items that used to be thought of as for men.  Figure I can use, give away, or sell.

Again, I am not disclosing age except to say I am over 50 and enjoy every minute of sweeping.

How you look at a situation is very important, for how you think about a problem may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. When you get discouraged or depressed, try changing your attitude from negative to positive and see how life can change for you. Remember, your attitude toward a situation can help you to change it -- you create the very atmosphere for defeat or victory.”

    Hi mimireco

I'm 64 and last year i won a Grand prize-a trip to China.  I haven't won much since and think that maybe not too many people entered that or something because i am not a bit lucky.  If I ever do win another big one I'll rethink that.  Anyway I used Autofill on that and on every one I can. I myself have not seen older people winning cars or such.  Actually I haven't seen a whole lot of winners compared to the hundreds and hundreds of contests.  But lots of luck to you!

marli, I like sweeping , too. I guess like a lot of our members, we second guess about this rule and that one when we actually are not sure about them.  I was glad to see that you have been so blessed with you winnings.  My wish is that all our members will win.
