    Re: Just a warning!

I have received grand prize notifications by email, courier (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and telephone.

On telemarketing calls, ask them to hold on for a moment, lay the phone down until it beeps, then hang up. The "no one there" calls are computer generated calls to determine when the best time to call based on time you answered. To discourage these, continuously press the pound sign (#) several times, this confuses the computer and kicks your number out of the loop.

A sweepstake is free, even those that require a UPC or code, offer an alternative no purchase or free code option.

I have gotten calls like this many many times.  These guys get paid to get you to commit or have you go somewhere to claim some ticket scratch off.  Anyway, when they call do what I do.  Cut them off and ask did I actually win something free and clear, or are you asking for money for something?  Then I say : if you are trying to sell me a vacation or something, forget it.   You'd be surprized how quickly they hang up.  They are telemarketers trying to make commission.

Been there done that quite a few times. It always makes me wonder how they get the info to call. They always seem to know we enter sweeps too. I've got calls for the vacation timeshare win many times since winning a large prize. Some of the ones they used were Lincoln Navigator, TV, 25k and others that I supposedly won. Very sneaky, be very cautious, when you win and they call over the phone they tell you who they are and they ask general questions. Did you enter X sweep, are you over 18, do you live in the 48 states, etc. all general never want exact info.

    Re: Just a warning!

I had a similar phone call a couple of years ago.  They act like you did something wrong.  Another warning about all those emails saying you've won in a foreign lottery.  I hope nobody is answering those.  I have a brother-in-law who got caught in a money laundering scheme for those mystery shoppers offers, too.  We have to be soooooo careful these days.  He was out of work and has a family and needed some income.  He ended up with check fraud charges against him.  What a world, what a world, the evil witch said as she melted......
