    Who's going/been to the convention?

I was just wondering if anyone was going to this convention? Is it THE convention or one of many held during the year and has anyone gone to one of these before?

This will be my 4th convention. The first 2, I was not a sweeper. I went to help my sister. Then I heard what everyone was winning and ended up hooked. I will be there. You can find me at CJ'S Designer Envelopes. Carolyn is my sister and Al is my brother-in-law. It is thier club that is hosting this year. I would love to meet some of you, in fact I would love to meet all of you !

I should have added it is THE convention of the year. You will meet sweepers from all over the United States and even Canada. Everyone who attends is really helpful and eager to share tips on how they do thier sweeps. I have enjoyed myself at all of them even when I was not a sweeper. They will have guest speaker that are sweepstake related, thier is a formal banquet on Saturday night with entertainment, the best part is you have a chance to win some great prizes. All the venders have thier own sweeps that you can buy tickets for , You will see envelopes, postcards, etc. that will blow your mind, you will wonder how anyone ever came up with the ideas. Everyone there is amazing. Hope to see you all there!

Re: Who's going/been to the convention?

I am going as a sweeper and when I told my friend she asked if she can sell stuff. (She has a small printing company - t-shirts, signs and promotional items (can print logos, company names etc.. on anything.) Actually, I don't know what sort of things she could sell as she doesn't do stationary (she subs that out.) Would she pay for a booth; how does that part work? I/we would love to meet you and anyone from this site there; wish a group of us were going. I'd better get my registation form mailed in quickly. It sounds like a lot of fun and I'm eager to learn more about sweeping.

Go to sweep18.com they will have all the information for you. I know several of the people working on it and they are working really hard to make it a great experience for everyone. I live in northern MI so won't be going down until a few days before. There are no clubs around where I live, and I only know 1 other person in town that does sweeps. I have been to a few of thier club meetings and always enjoy them.

Guess we need an updated list as a new year has rolled around and the 2008 Convention will be in San Antonio. Are you going? This will be our 4th Convention and you always meet the nicest people there. People who enjoy sweeping and are successful  at the hobby  year in year out.

There is a chance I will go.  It all hinges on whether or not I have a job by then.  I can stay with my ex-husband and his wife, so don't have to worry about hotel...Just the GAS!  That could break the bank!

Re: Who's going/been to the convention?

I would love to be there! Is there any more info out there or a website? Dates, cost ?

San Antonio is a wonderful location. I have been twice and would recommend staying on the river if the convention is located there. Drury Inns are my favorite hotel for the money. Free cocktail hour ,snacks and breakfast. Check out the one in the old bank building . Very cool  1930's architecture and well preserved. Also check out the web site visitsanantonio.com , they have great hotel rates in their S.A.V.E. section. Do I sound excited?

Here's a link to the convention site:  http://www.lonestarstampede.com/

I agree on the Drury Inn ~ they had good deals while my daughter was going to school at Trinity in San Antonio (still a bit pricey for this single mom w/4 kids, but lots of perks).  You may still be able to wheel and deal a good price if you mention Trinity U...*shrug*  worth a shot anyway!

(Ooops, hope it was okay that i listed the site...Mr. Sweepy?  Lemme know if I need to go sit in the corner for a while)

HAHAHA! Corner time for you! (o: Convention, that would be cool. For those of us that can't attend, we should do a live chat or something, that would be neat too for those of us that are, er, well, like me, have no extra moolah at this time!

Online live chat convention, that would be neat,

If you get the chance, visit this webpage: http://contests.about.com/ there is a lot of good information there all about sweeping! Ah, I cannot imagine Mr. S. making you sit in the corner for posting convention site.  Info you provided was extremely helpful.

How you look at a situation is very important, for how you think about a problem may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. When you get discouraged or depressed, try changing your attitude from negative to positive and see how life can change for you. Remember, your attitude toward a situation can help you to change it -- you create the very atmosphere for defeat or victory.”
