Mr Sweepy can't fix it til he knows it's broke!

I've noticed a lot of sweepers commenting about sweeps which have assigned to the wrong category, sites which are not working or broken/changed/incorrect links.

Rather than 20 people making the same consecutive comment, it would be great if we share the responsibilty and do something to get it fixed! Mr Sweepy can not read all the comments for all the sweeps so he doesn't know there is a problem until we e-mail him and tell him; he's happy to fix it. If you cut and paste the sweep address such as http://www.sweepstakestoday.com/sweeps/11712.aspx and send him an e-mail and the link with a note about the problem/correction needed, it'll be fixed  :-)  (If it's a daily, one-time, monthly issue etc. cut and paste the section in the rules which states it. If its a broken link and you have a correct one, include it. These things will save him time.)

If a site is not working, we can e-mail the company and ask them to have their tech support check it out. Again, send them a link and the name of the sweep. Sometimes it's hard to figure out who to email. What I do is look at the very bottom of their home page and click on "Site map." Then look for "Contact Us." This usually gets there. If they get a few emails they will check it out.

It would be great if more of us would do this and be proactive rather than state the obvious. I think this would make things go smoother. (We won't need to save some sweeps in fav.places or search for the working link through the comments.) Write a comment saying, for example, "Should be a daily - I've e-mailed Mr sweepy." (This way we don't all email him!)

Prosperous sweeping to us all and may the sweep gods bless LTM with a big win! (Perhaps his beep, beep Jeep!)

agreed, though i know on occasion i have been guilty of this, i have tried to contact the sponsors usually when i have a problem ( most of the time i get a genericv email stating everything on their end is working just fine). but i still agree. we should all be a little more proactive instead of sitting around expecting everything to be handed to us. Less whining more sweeping! lol! good luck all!

I agree with alot you said however I like to know when a site is down ..I look at the date someone posted and if I can't get in I know Its not just me...It's more just letting members know..sometimes...the site might come up and then we let each know.  I think the comments are for anything you want it to be..some people chat back forth..since we don't have a chat room..I see nothing wrong with it...it only takes a few seconds to scrowl through.

I do understand where you are coming from and it certainly would help to let Mr. S know when there is a problem but he is busy and unless the sweeps is down for days and days I woudn't bother him...

I hope you didn't take this wrong..as you just expressing an opinion..

Hi Glorob, My post is not about limiting messages. I'm all for people talking up a storm, continuing the friendships we've made here and I'm definately for poetry! This is a very special site built on the communication between members and it's one of the best parts of my day. I would really like it if you read my post again. (If a site is down I want to know I'm not the only one having a problem!)

I am asking for help from other members so things mentioned can get fixed and we get the most entries possible. Mr Sweepy is very happy to do the things mentioned - correct a site address, change a one-time to a daily. He's grateful to be contacted because it improves his site. (And he says he does not get offended if we point out a mistake!)  Samantha  :-)

I don't think we are on the same page ...I applaud your willingness to bring up a new subject....we need to learn not to take offense at each others opinion...that is why this is a forum.  I am not in disagreement in what you had to say...I'm am simply saying the reason you see comment after comment of a site down is we enter at different times...I might enter at 8:35am and site is down...you might enter at 9:05am...the site is up..if you let me know its back that helps me.

I very well am just misunderstanding some of your point...its not that important....I look forward to more of your ideas...I may not always agree but I certainly respect your right to express them...

Re: Mr Sweepy can't fix it til he knows it's broke!

Why I have your attention I wanted to apologize for having the same avatar...I know you had it first but what happened was I was having a terrible time getting my avatar to work..after much help from St members...I don't know how that popped up..I was so excited to have anything but the gray guy..so I got it to work ut messed up something else and Mr S had to spend so much time getting me back on...I promised him I would not press any more buttons (smile)...If I can ever get my friend to come over and help me..I'll get my pups up. (oh and those to little icons next to my name) clueless how they got there ha....

    Hi GS,

i agree about posting when you've taken steps to address the issue (as i've done several times just so the company involved isn't bombarded w/emails from the site and also posted when i've already informed Mr.S), as well as trying to take care of it (sort of a "first to find it tries to fix it" understanding--which i always thought there was anyway), but we seem to have a whole bunch of newbies on the site who probably have no idea what to do AND i think you've left out one KEY issue:

sweepers REPEATEDY asking (and answering ) the same questions on the same post lines. i recall macbug leaving a post about this a couple of weeks ago, as half the (very long) post line involved the same Q & A'a.  one example: i've probably left 10 site posts AND a Forum post about EZ Fixes for BRKN PGS, i.e. BEFORE posting there's a problem try CLICKING ON THE TITLE OF THE SWEEP (ABOVE THE GOLD STARS)--but i still keep seeing people using such convoluted methods of trying to get in, when i just do the title thing and am in. many methods and thank you's and lots of wasted time vis a vis your post about time management & entering, etc. i've stopped suggesting as it seemed to do little good, or perhaps many good suggestions are simply "lost" in our fun post chitchat.

so, here's an idea (in addition to the ones you suggested):  WHENEVER you have a question about a/any specific sweep issue put a *  BEFORE your post. if you are providing an answer to a/any question, put ** before your post. therefore, sweepers looking for answers can QUICKLY run through our long post lines for  *  or  ** , as opposed to just repeating the same question again. and so on. whatcha think? if you like it, why don't you repost it under...ST COMMENTS where it will probably get more notice, shorter post lines and a whole lot of time saved, especially for newbies!

    that's it from the pound.

Hi Elfpuppy, I think you may be right about the new members; the site has doubled in a year! Many of them have probably not visited the forum either so my post here doesn't reach them anyway. This issue has been bothering me for months and I'm sure that's why I was so direct. (People complaining about sweeps is another sore spot! How can you complain when there's so much generosity! Where else can you get so much for free - it blows me away!)

I send many emails notifying sponsors that their entry page has not been working for days. I also email Mr Sweepy so he can move a sweep or fix a link. The frustrating part is that the majority either think these things happen by magic or assume someone else will do something. What I now see is that posting here was "preaching to the choir." It's the members who use this Forum who also try to get things fixed and put effort into it improving this site too.

Glorob, I'm sorry I was stern and I didn't want to hurt your feelings. We're on the same team! And of course I don't mind us having the same avatar. We both probably got it in the same way; for me it was one of the few on my computer that was cheery and I couldn't figure out how to download one from another site! Although I do want to change it to something more personal soon.

I'm worded out and really hungry; I work up very early today and think it's time for a snack and nap! (Sound like a kid in day care!) Samantha

    Hi Glorob,

If you really don't know what those cute little icons are next to your name, (the 2 heads and upper bodies) they simply mean your online right now.

Hope to see your puppies soon, although the sunset is beautiful.

i always appreciate your wise words, samantha (and another BIG WOOHOO for NEXUS!).  having just done as you suggested ( we had a bunch of 'page errors' which i collected & passed to The Chief), i now think it's also kind of a thin line out there in "helping" country. as in, when is it too much, or perhaps one's actions may cause someone to think you're "sucking up" instead of offering a helping hand.

i've never been too good with 'thin lines', but as you always seem to be able to 'balance' (NPI) the level of your ST participation so well--if someone does take something the wrong way, do you just push on and try to be available in a pinch, or step back and wait and watch to see if another sweeper will step in with the assist?

i await words. xxxxxxxxxxxxxwheeeeeeeeeels of anticipation!  lisa

oh puppy you kind of hit the nail on backing off or not.  I found myself backing off and I know if someone needed help and no one knew the answer which have been the case I would help.  A few members needed a contact person for a prize and I am more then willing to assist.  Mr. Sweepy told me that someone had complained about me..way back when and I relized I might have hurt someones feelings which I don't like to do and don't know why I did..or it could have been taken wrong...in any case I am still getting over it and post now and then.  Kind of took the fun out for me.  Hoping to get it back with time.

Good to see your post have missed you.
