    Holiday Sweeps--Where are They?

Is it just me, or are there less holiday themed sweeps this year? Especially those featuring big prizes and money. I have been sweeping since 2005, and this year seems to have fewer than any other year. Maybe the economy? Anyway, hoping my holiday spirit improves soon, maybe after Thanksgiving, we'll see some month-long holiday-themed sweeps, giving us all cheer for the holidays!

It feels that way to me at the moment, too, sburrill.

On the other hand, I thought there were more Valentine's-Day-themed prizes than I'd ever seen before this year, which I enjoyed because they were for jewelery I'd never otherwise dream of owning.

Hope you're right and Christmas holiday sweeps may show up on December 1.

I was wondering the same thing sburrill.....Last year my LL had so many  Christmas sweeps on it that I couldn't keep up with them all. ( I was hoping Miller Light would run their gift card sweep again year because it seemed like everyone was winning!!)  I was getting all hyped up for great Christmas sweeps again this year and have to admit that I'm feeling a little let down.  But who knows, we may see a lot of them starting after Thanksgiving....we'll have to wait and see.

Unfortunately, I think the economic downturn has hit us in the Sweepstakes offerings.  Seems there was a similar sentiment offered by Mr Sweepy, maybe in his newsletter.  The offerings have to come from profits and if they are down, there is less to offer.  Just a choice of how the sponsors want to get brand awareness and the biggest bang for their advertising/good will dollars.  Here's to a better 2010.

I agree about the absence of Holiday sweeps. Dont' Kraft and Nabisco always have big ones.   I was just thinking a week ago that one of the cereal companies didn't run a sweep this year where they give away a few hundred video game systems - can't remember which one it was - Kelloggs, Post or General Mills?   Anyway, I don't think their business is hurting.  Just like the candy companies kids never stop eating cereal and my four go thru it like water.  They should be rewarding their customers!

Prizes and sweeps are down by 15 to 20 percent over last year at this time.  If anything, I have been getting more sponsors this year also. So the number are a little worse than that.

I did notice that the manufactured back sweeps were stronger in the summer but didn't carry over.  The retailers might make a last minute rush, but I am not holding my breath.

Worse, I am not seeing the number of Super Bowl or NASCAR-Daytona sweeps that usually start to show up by now. Weakness from the car manufactures.

Sweeps are looking a lot weaker for 2010.
