Hi all
Sweepstakes Today has more value & education besides just the potential excitement of winning great prizes. Although I haven't won anything in a long while- Today I won big with the information & knowledge provided by this site & it's members.
4:10 pm today- I got a phone call from a guy saying I had won a 3 day 2 night plus $1,000 from a walmart drawing- that would arrive Wednesday. At first I thought this was a possibility because I'm a St member/sweeper. Reading the posts from other members about scam alerts, warnings, new savvy scam tactics/verbage & my experience of having 3 decent wins in the past, I knew something was not right. ( I have entered a couple of walmart sweeps from ST)
I Asked him a few key questions like " what's the information on my entry form?" He used my boyfriend's last name- Which I NEVER Have or will use on entries. He asked if I had a walmart card- My reply " I do Not", but he followed up by asking if I had a credit card ( This was huge red flag for me & simple common sense this is a con job) finally I asked him " what about the affadavit?" He had No clue what the hell an affy was. This phone call had long pitch & a hint of possibly being legitimate before my questions but Thanks to all my sister & brother sweepers I was armed with knowledge & empowered with a tad of sweeps sophistication.
The moral of this lesson ; all those who are new or just old members who don't visit the forum for the latest info... don't just read about winnings but do take the time every once in awhile to scroll down to read or write ( especially if there's some new scam or strategy to be alert & guard against) because it can truly help a fellow member.
keep your eyes & ears open for this latest phone call scam .
Thank you ST & Especially those members who have shared stories, advice & info regarding scams/ cons.
I've been saved from a potential scammer
