Do they ask winners about the rules!

Every contest has a check box that always says... Yes,I have read the rules.I'm wondering if any companys ask winners about any rules after a win.Maybe there is something in the small print that would exclude a person or a sneaky way to exclude you from a winConfused

I don't think so.  On my win I got a phone call and they asked if I remembered the sweep (and I did because it was a daily) but I would have answered yes anyway.  They also knew that I had entered every day and got the questions answered correctly every day - it was one that asked 4 questions about the trip on the entry form.  I think they DO check if you entered more than you were allowed and if your information was correct.

on the 2 trips that i won, both asked questions related to the rules, ie;  # of entries, DOB, how I entered, etc.

My two GP wins did not lead to rules questions.  But maybe the third time will indeed be the charm.

There is no way that you could remember specific rules with as many sweeps as we enter daily...what that question is for (I think) is to release the company of any liability by you checking ans saying that you read the rules, you can't sue them for falling off your prize, not claiming taxes, etc.

Sometimes, I read the rules and other times......................  If there is going to be a rules quiz, I am in big trouble. Huh?

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Hey Strike,  Here is how I view the subject.  It really doesn't matter whether you read to rules (by clicking their checkmark box) or not.  When it matters is when you win and there is a Affy.  That is when the rules really come into play.  Mainly that check box is for eligibility.  However it can also indicate permission to sign you up for a newsletter lets say.

So my thinking is win it first then find out.  If you receive a snail mail or a newsletter email, you can opt-out of this later on. The snail mail can be thrown into the trash can.

If you win, ask for or look up to see if copy of the rules is available.

    Thanks for the question,

    Mr. Sweepy

Re: Do they ask winners about the rules!

Although 99-3/4% of the sweeps I enter require the check of the "I have read (and understand) the rules", of the many GP's and lesser prizes that I have won, there never has been a query as to whether or not I have read (undestood or adhered to the rules). As Mr. Sweepy states, and I too believe, this is to prevent any future liability above and beyond the award of the stated prize and it's value, and contains the necessary legal mumbo jumbo required to meet Federal, State or other criteria to conduct a sweepstakes.

Legal mumbo jumbo is why attorneys are so very popular, NOT.  Sorry in advance to anyone who is an attorney. Embarrassed

All picking on attorneys aside Wink, one of my best friends is an attorney and he tells some great attorney jokes.
