    official rules dilema

When reading in the rules for our sweeps when it says this ," Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of plays by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant's plays and that entrant may be disqualified." But yet it says one entry per person/email and from what I've been told that means that my husband and I can both enter but then it's a conflict when it has both of those in the rules. I don't know what to think.

Does that mean that only I can enter or can I enter my husband and I both. I still get so confused over this how they say that each person can enter which sounds like by the word," each" it would mean me and my husband they say that seperate people can enter but can't use the same e-mail. Then it contradicts all of that by putting in there Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of plays by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant's plays and that entrant may be disqualified. So which one is it?

if it says that in the sweeps and instant win games I guess that means I can only play once or be disqualified, I don't know anymore because when I first started sweeps it said those things in the rules and I entered my husband and I both and when I won something in his name they still mailed it to us and we got our prize and it had all of the above in the rules so I just don't really get it I guess.

Does anyone who has been doing sweeps a while please help me with this issue. Your time and knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I only enter in my name only.  I guess I just don't want to take the risk of getting in trouble or blackballed by trying to enter more often.  But since I only enter for myself, I make sure I get all my sweeps done every day.  There are some I would just love to get extra entries into, but afraid to take the chance.  Like some of those HGTV and DIY sweeps.  Wow!  Hopefully someone can help you answer your question.

    Re: official rules dilema

I have won a couple of trips - one just came in the form of an affy via registered mail - no questions were asked.  The other came via a phone call, and they asked me how many times I entered, and did I enter for anyone else.  It was a one-time entry, and probably had some rules such as the ones you mentioned.  I had not problems with this sweepstakes - but was not able to take it due to my schedule.  So, I just wanted to pass this on  - some sweeps will question just the concerns you had.  Hope this helps.

    Re: official rules dilema

That is one of the reason's i will not enter a certain administrators sweeps any longer,my hubby and i live in the same house at the same address, have the same phone number, same number of kids, our IP addresses are only off by one number mine ends in 100 his ends in 101 and our daughters ends in 102, so i think if we enter the same sweeps they are DQ me thinking that i am entering for him,so i will not put them on my lucky list anymore, the one's i have i will let run out,and not stress over them anymore.

I feel no need to enter for the whole family.

When in doubt, remain on the safe side. That seems to work for me.

I quit entering for my husband even tho we have different emails, telephone numbers, computers, everything but home address because sometimes I would enter for myself and then go to his computer and enter all his (different) info and it would say "already entered".  My question is why do they say per person, per email address if that's the case -- after all, he could be doing this himself!

    Re: official rules dilema

The reason they have to be so strict is because there are many people that will set up multiple e-mail accounts and enter something 20 times or more a day. There was one sweepstakes that had so many scammers they had a big article about it, saying they had to DQ many of them. I have decided I'd rather them discriminate in a way that will rule out the cheaters, even if it means my other family members can't enter. If they allowed every e-mail entry to go through, there would be so many cheaters that most honest players would never see even a small win in a year.

I do wish they would be more specific about the rules, but I've been doing this long enough to know that there are some JA's that DQ you for entering more than one time per household even when they don't admit it. So I have made a decision never to do it.

    Re: official rules dilema

On my Robo I have a button for my brother, and I enter him for boats and motorcycles and trips that I wouldn't want for myself. Otherwise I only enter for myself nowadays.  In olden days I would enter other family members, but now I have become wary of that.  So I enter just one person for any sweeps.  That's not always necessary, but for me it takes too long to read the rules to figure out when it would be okay to enter others.

The one big exception for me, which the HGTV fans have had formal confirmation about from HGTV administrators, is that you can enter every eligible person in your household--and even all of your friends if you want to--into the HGTV Dream Home sweeps from one computer. That one will start up on January 1.

    Re: official rules dilema

Thank all of you for your input! It's just really confusing because when I first started sweeping about 3 years ago I didn't really know what I was doing nor did I read the rules and I would play all the instant win games that were sweeps too! with me, my husband, and my mother's e-mails and everything that I won I recieved and was never disqualified even though I'm positive it had that same statement in the rules. Soooo confusing but I will now take you guys advice and just enter myself. Thanks again

I only enter for myself.  Used to enter for my older brother (out of state) but got worried about being DQ'd.

Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

    Re: official rules dilema

Thanks! again to all of you!

But you know the one thing that makes me the most confused is with the instant win games it had this in the rules ," Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than the stated number of plays/entries by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that participant’s plays/entries and that participant may be disqualified."

I entered me, my husband and my mother for those games in the past and I always got my prizes and so did my husband and mother. I was never disqualified so how do you explain that? They really could make things much clearer for people if they wanted too!

If the above rule meant that only 1 person can enter then wouldn't that mean I would have been disqualified from recieving any intant win prize since the above rule was stated in the rules and is suppose to mean only one person can enter. I guess I will continually be confused over this unless they clear up their description in the rules and make it a little clearer and not so contradictory! God bless all!

Copy and paste into your browser.

This only happened fairly recently, and I have a feeling they are being more strict than they actually say. I'd rather play safe, but if it's important to you, then go ahead. You've had good fortune with it before and hopefully will continue.

    Re: official rules dilema

hypersweeper, I understand your question better now.  There are some people who really are cheats.  They aren't entering their other family members: they invent multiple identities in order to repeatedly enter for themselves.  That's the group that your quoted language is aimed at.

Since you were entering ONCE per day, or whatever, for each SEPARATE person, those were all valid entries and it makes sense that you would have won for some of them.  Yes, you should STILL be able to submit those entries.

But, because of the article that was just reposted above, a lot of us became afraid to enter anyone else from the same computer or even someone else from another computer who lived at the same address. The screening measures raised anxieties that ePrize might wind up accidentally screening out a lot of honest people.

I did win a couple of little ePrize sweeps after that, plus I've never been someone who wins a steady stream of little things, so I guess all is well for me, but a lot of other people noticed a stop in wins from ePrize sweeps at that point.  It was very depressing for them to have put in all that hard honest work and not know if they were being permanently systematically eliminated for having entered a spouse or child in some long-ago sweeps that allowed it. Or it could have been the normal lulls that everyone experiences at times.  It was upsetting not to know which was the case.  The fact that the lull hit so many sweepers at once made people fear they had been blackballed by ePrize.  I guess we'll never know for sure.

If e-prize does have a black ball list, that company should be company enough to let players know if and why they are blacked balled.

But they don't have to, and that's what we have to deal with.

I would guess if someone has played the Honey Nut Cheerios game ten times a day without one win, they may have a problem. Same thing with the Coke IW cash card game. Of the people that feel they have been DQed from ePrize sweeps, I wonder how many entered for themselves only and how many were entering for their husband and/or children. If we knew that, it would be helpful. The one thing I do know is that I won't risk it myself.
