Is it possible to come back?

After sweeping very regularly on this site for 2 years, I just got burnt out.  Been away for a good 6-8 months.  Has anyone been away that long and been able to get back into it?  I miss the thrill of winning, and need to get over the mental block I have put up in regards to the repetitive daily entering.  Any ideas, advice, suggestions, encouragement?

P.S.  I've missed all my ST friends.  Smile

Welcome back.  Only advicce, well, maybe not the only advice...  Keep it fun and go for the prizes you really want to win.  An if you feel burnout setting back in, take a break.  This family will always welcome you back!  GSTY!

Well, nobody's missed ya more than me :)  Good to see you on here.....I wondered if you would come back!  I have been entering, but not as regularly....I enter the dailies every other day, sometimes every three.  Mr. S said recently not to quit at entering the dailies, that they have much better odds of winning if you enter regularly.  Of course, you know, I have never won a grand prize from a daily.  But I'm going to keep on, keep on, keep on moving (a little Brady Bunch for ya)  It's been a terrible sweeping year for me.  But I keep seeing big winners, and it makes me happy knowing they are ST winners.  Soon my time will come around again.  AND YOURS WILL TOO!!!!

     Hoop

Really missed ya. I think you need to start slow and start entering just what you want. But as soon as you get a taste with

a instant win...Bam you will be hooked again.

    Welcome back and good luck.

Hi there my friend.  Great to have you back Hoop. I would suggest to start with Last Chance Sweeps to start with.  since it is at the end of the month, hit the one-time entries to begin with. This will keep you busy.  Then start to add to your Lucky List. With the first of the month starting this week, there should be a good bunch of new sweeps coming out this weekend and next week.

Welcome back hoop, missed you.  I too am tired of the daily sweeps, but that possible win somehow keeps me hanging on in there.  My only advice is if it gets too rough and boring just step away for a couple of days and then resume.  Sometimes it helps me, hope it helps you.

WB Hoop! Good advice from Mr S. My two cents is that I have been doing 40 - 50 or so daily and a handful of weekly/monthly for years - just the ones I really want to win - and that takes, what? 20 minutes a day. No burn out that way. Been pretty successful too...

Re: Is it possible to come back?

Hey, hoop, I'm a newbie who's been around since about the time you left I guess. Being an old hand at sweeping, you probably already know about my suggestions. But for what they're worth, here they are. If your burnout was due to spending too much time entering every day, I would suggest using Robo or something similar AND tabbing with the "control" button when entering. That speeds up the process greatly! Also - quality of sweeps is more important than quantity in my opinion. Don't spend time entering for prizes you don't care about; and enter for yourself, not friends and family. If your burnout was partly because you became bored entering the same sweeps all the time and answering the same questions, you might try what I do in that case: after 30 or 40 entries, I take that sweep off my Lucky List. Last - taking periodic breaks doesn't hurt as long as you come back. Remain active in the forums, and use our encouragement to keep your morale up. GSTY! Chuck.Wink

Gosh it is so good to hear from you all. Smile   Thanks for your words of encouragement.  I have missed you all so much.

Mr. Sweepy, I will take your advice and get on those last chancers and follow up with the one timers.  When I started this hobby two years ago, a one timer is what I hit for my first big win TravelParadise.  Been reading the forum and seeing some great wins, maybe it is time I got back on the horse and rode it again for awhile.

Hi Lisa, may I add my welcome back as well.  Didn't really miss you, as my entering has been hit and miss since first of year, finding little success after the many.many wins prior to when we last met at the Superb Owl. Just as you, lots and lots of entries and depressed at the lack of wins, even missing out on the Shaw rugs, Subway chips, Hershey Bliss and only a couple of Pace wins.

Well Hoop dee doo, I sure am glad you're back!  I have missed your sage advice and gentle words.

I am sorry you got so bummed out with sweeping, I think it has been a tough couple of years for all of us old timers, not as much winning going on with us (maybe we were spoiled...LOL), and it gets a little depressing at times I agree.  The only thing that keeps me going at times is pure stubborness!  LOL

I hope to see you back here on a regular basis for a long time to come.  Take care.

Re: Is it possible to come back?

Hi, Hoop.  I took months off lately, too.  In my case, there was just too much going on in real life.  Still is really, so I'm still sporadic for now.

Mr. Sweepy says entries always drop off in the summer, so one piece of advice for myself for the future is to try to not stop completely when entries are generally at their lowest.

Well, I won a TV even though I hadn't been sweeping for months (well, just for the cars once in a while).  So, that was truly a shock, and it helped to entice me back, experiencing the truth that previous hard work can still pay off a long, long time later.  Out of all the sweeps you entered before burning out, maybe there is already a big win waiting for you, too, that you won't realize until the end of the year.

For me, the hardest part of coming back was a compulsive desire to comb through the various categories to find sweeps that particularly interested me.  When I have gone on sabatical on other times, I tried to check the New Sweeps at least once a week so my LL would still be current whenever I did feel like going at it in full force again.  I wish I had done that this time, too. So that is also a bit of future advice for waiting out the burn out.  Just those minimal one entry per interesting sweeps, and adding it to you list even if you never enter it again, makes the eventual recovery from burn-out so much easier.

But now I feel all caught up and I think you will soon, too. So many are disappearing at the end of the quarter, I think you have picked a perfect time to jump back in.  Best of luck to you.  There is nothing like an amazing win to recall the pleasures of sweeping back to your heart, and I hope you have a wonderful win soon.

I don't recall anything I've won since returning.  Not bothering with the Pace sweeps, lol. And I've never won the candy from M&M or anything from Shaw.  Don't care:  A big win will come along someday. For you, too.  Wink
