So very sorry to hear about your Daddy. May the Lord be with you both. It has been 5 years since mine past away in a car accident, and 10 years since I lost my mommy... Yes, I still miss them both... but I am very thankful that they were both good parents and I had a good childhood... (I'm 58 and still have such good memories)... My best to you.

Oh...my...word!!  I'm sitting in my classroom today after school (where I teach), when I get a call on my cell phone.  I figured it was a parent because I didn't recognize the number.

 I won the Outdoor Channel's Gear Up and Go Sweepstakes!!!!!  (Day 31) - I won a Honda Rancher ATV and $1000!!!  Thankfully today was a good day (great day) for Dad.  When I told him he was SO HAPPY and SO PROUD!!!  He was very cognizant and understood eveything.  I told the guy from the Outdoor Channel my story (I asked him if he had time, he said "yes"), and I teared up right in my classroom as I was telling him.

 I can't believe that I won something so big after just a little over a month of "contesting".  Thank you to Mr. Sweepy and Outdoor Channel, and thanks for all of your nice sentiments, and, especially, THANKS TO MY DAD!!!

That is so AWESOME!!    I had to "tear up" myself just from reading your post.  I'm so happy for you (and for your Dad to be able to share in the thrill with you).  From one teacher to another (retired) teacher. . . . send some of your "beginner's luck" my way! 

If that isn't the greatest story I've heard in a long time!!  What a great thrill, and to tell your Daddy the wonderful news, it is just absolutely amazing.  That is some super prize for a "newbie" to win.  And so glad that you and your father could share this together.  I bet the Outdoor Channel guy was just floored about this story.  Wonderful wonderful and another way to be thankful you have the Dad you have.   Best wishes to your whole family and thanks for sharing this with your ST "family".  EVIE 

Wow, that is an awesome win.  Glad your Dad was able to grasp what has happened.  I'm sure he's just thrilled for you.

 I hung up the award letter in his room, along with the BP gas card I won (and used). 8)

Hi spenpess1...thanks to Evie I'm reading your post.  I don't get to hang out that much in the forum.  But I was so glad I was directed to see what you wrote.  OH MY GOSH!!!  What an awesome story you have to tell!!!  You will have years of enjoyment on that ATV and however long you are blessed to have your Dad here on earth  - no matter what happens, he will always be with you.  Everytime you get on that ATV, you will smile and think of your father :)  I'm so very happy for you and I will be praying for your father.  It's no need to worry because God has such amazing plans for your father and you and all of us!!!

I know what your going through.  I lost my mother a few years back to a brain tumor.  she also beat the odds on time (I think she was determined to see her great granson born)  I had lost my Dad 5 months before Mom died.  God gives us the strength we need to endure those times.

I think it's wonderful that you are giving your Dad the enjoyment of still being able to win at his contests.
